Neal Johnson, 2017 CFR President responded to the data:

“It's up, up and away. CFR’s March 2017 residential MLS local market statistics have taken off higher across all categories.

Home sales units were up 59.46 % from last month, and home sales units leaped to a new historical high of 893 units sold for the month of March. March 2016 vs. August 2017 showed a dramatic 27% increase in total units sold and a 32.78% increase total sales volume, marking another new historic high for the month of March. There an increase of 4.9% median price to $215,000, with a continued drop of %15.89 fewer days on the market (DOM).

January 2017 to March 2017 vs. January 2016 to March 2016 experienced an impressive 23.99% increase in total units sold, with a commanding 27.53% increase in total sales volume, and a significant reduction in days on the market (DOM) of - 14.46%, now at 93 days.

Inventory remain the main issue. Absorption rates are continuing to decline in New Hanover County down 25.35%, Pender County down 30.9% and Brunswick County at 16.3% from March 2016.
